RNC Chair Mike Duncan has convened the 2008 convention. Following the Pledge, National Anthem, presentation of colors and invocation, Duncan nominated Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell to preside as temporary chair of the convention.
McConnell was elected unanimously by acclamation.
Duncan asked that delegates and guests be generous with their prayers and resources for those in the path of Gustav. He asked everyone to take out their cell phones and make a quick $ 5 contribution to Text 2 Help. The key word is "Give" (4483). The address is 2 Help, 24357.
