Even Obama Supporters Prefer McConnell Over Lunsford

Here's a significant poll reported earlier today at Cincinnati.com:

Kentucky's college students have selected Democrat Barack Obama for president and Republican Mitch McConnell for senate in a statewide mock election run by the Secretary of State's office.

Nearly 2,200 students from Northern Kentucky University in Highland Heights and 11 other universities and colleges participated in the election, according to a statement from Secretary of State Trey Grayson, a Boone County Republican.

Voting lasted for about a month.
In the presidential race, Obama won with 53.5 percent over Republican John McCain, who finished with 42.4 percent.
In the U.S. Senate race, McConnell, the incumbent and the Senate GOP leader, defeated Democrat Bruce Lunsford, 50.2 percent to 48.8 percent.

Why is this student poll significant? It shows that even among the demographic group that is the strongest for Obama in Kentucky, McConnell still enjoys the support of the majority.
