The Questions For Obama About Ayers: What Did He Know And When Did He Know It?

Those two famous questions asked of President Nixon about Watergate should be asked by any responsible reporter of Senator Obama about William Ayers:

What did Obama know about Ayers and when did he know it?

Unfortunately, it does not appear that Charlie Gibson asked either question in his latest interview of Obama.

Lynn Sweet of the Chicago Sun-Times nails the issue squarely. As she explains:

On Monday, Obama chief strategist David Axelrod said Obama was not aware of Ayers' terrorist background when he attended a political coffee at Ayers Hyde Park home at the beginning of his state senate race sometime in the fall of 1995. Ayers and Obama first crossed paths in 1995 while involved in the Chicago Annenberg Challenge, a foundation dealing with urban education issues.

So the question is--I'm just curious and I wonder about this as one who has defended Obama's association with Ayers, the education expert (not Ayers, the terrorist)---when did Obama finally learn about the Weather Underground background of Ayers and his wife Bernardine Dohrn?

Once Obama knew that Ayers is an unrepentant terrorist, he should have disassociated himself immediately from the man. Obama's failure to do so -- until called on it during the presidential election -- speaks volumes as to his lack of good judgment.

It strains credibility that Obama -- being the Harvard Law School graduate that he is -- was so stupid as to associate with Ayers without knowing all of his friend's sordid past. That's why it is so important that Obama should be asked and made to answer those two questions.

Please note: The postings of "G. Morris", written by John K. Bush and which end in 2016, stated his views as of the dates of posting and should not be understood as current assertions of his views. The postings, which have not been altered since they came to an end, remain on this blog to preserve the historical record. In 2017, Mr. Bush took a position that precludes further public political comments or endorsements. He will no longer be contributing to this blog.
