It's about time. Joe Arnold has posted the press release. Now if only Dr. Dan will learn that the subject and verb must agree.

Mongiardo Goof

Dan Mongiardo's campaign needs to learn how to spell the name of the boss's kid. Or else Mongiardo needs to start proofing what his staff churns out to see whether his daughter is "Kathryn" or "Catherine."

Good thing she's too little to read. We haven't been this embarrassed for her since her mama did the strip tease while Kathryn-Catherine was in utero.

C-J's Freudian Slip

Joe Gerth has been dutifully reporting the attacks between the campaigns of Attorney General Jack Conway and Lieut. Gov. Dan Mongiardo in their bids for the Democratic nomination for U.S. Senate. Lots of stalkers with camcorders filming each other. Now an accusation that Mongiardo is blurring the line between his official and campaign events, improperly excluding Conway's campaign staff.

Mongiardo's lieutenant governor's office sent out a notice last week announcing that Mongiardo would be speaking at them. [Emphasis added.]

After the primary, Mongiardo won't have anybody to speak at.

Mongiardo's Meltdown

Anyone who thought Dr. Lieut. Gov. wannbe a U.S. Sen. Dan Mongiardo's tackiness is limited to his overly-waxed eyebrows should listen to this audio. Mongiardo makes clear that he despises Gov. Steve Beshear, his job, and the U.S. Senate. In short, he's just plain bitter.

It is a happy, happy day for that one-tough-son-of-a-bitch, Jack Conway.

Dr. Dan Practices On The Gov. & Mrs. Gov.

Lieutenant Governor and U.S. Senator wannabe Dr. Dan Mongiardo sharpened his medical skills by giving a flu shot to Governor Steve Beshear and First Lady Jane Beshear, according to WHAS11.

Beshear places a lot of trust in the guy who would become governor in the event that Beshear becomes, um, incapacitated.

Dr. Dan will have plenty of time to practice medicine after the Democratic primary.

Wedding Update

Lt. Governor Daniel Mongiardo tied the knot with Allison Patrick in Covington over the weekend. Meanwhile, Johnny Depp's representative has denied the rumor that Depp wed "long-term girlfriend Vanessa Paradis . . . .in a secret ceremony earlier this month." According to the British site, Now Magazine Online, Depp "was rumoured to have exchanged vows with the French singer in his home town of Kentucky on 14 June."

Forget Ft. Lauderdale: Kentucky Is Where The Boys Are

Talk about a cultural experience. "I saw naked people who'd been having sex but got up to answer the door," reported back a Columbia College coed who canvassed on behalf of Governor-elect Steve Beshear last weekend. "Wow, your sex must really suck if you get up halfway through it to answer the door."

Where's a privacy penumbra when you need it? Yet another group of Ivy League students is out to drum up Kentucky Democrats to vote. Move on over DitchMitch.com blogger Matt Gunterman.

According to the student newspaper Columbia Daily Spectator, these "rowdy Columbia Democrats" used their fall break "in the way intended by its 1968 architects" -- "to engage in the electoral process." Groooovy.

Why are Columbia College Democrats so concerned about Kentucky politics? Columbia College senior J.D. Porter, a writer for the Columbia Daily Spectator, summed it up nicely yesterday: "Here at Columbia, as at most top universities, we enjoy belittling conservative beliefs. Even the professors are in on it, and conservatives often find their beliefs directly challenged by academic trickery, like thinking about things, and facts." Might he be auditioning for a job at the Courier-Journal?

"I'm not sure we've had a group together like Columbia University," said Lieutenant Governor-elect Dan Mongiardo, who apparently either doesn't mind or doesn't recognize their condescension. "They've been incredible."

So this is what the Beshear-Mongiardo ticket meant when they pledged to promote "adventure tourism."

The Columbia Daily Spectator is so proud of the Columbia College Democrats that it has devoted an entire blogging section to their travels, slide show and all.
