For those who need another reason to pick a candidate, any candidate but Mitt Romney: Al Gore has complimented Romney for his wisdom on the environment.
According to the Daily Caller, Gore said of Romney,“While other Republicans are running from the truth, he is sticking to his guns in the face of the anti-science wing of the Republican Party.” Gore referred to a Washington Post story about how Romney believes that human activity is causing global warming.
To be sure, Romney would have made a much better president than Barack Obama. He would have made a much better nominee than John McCain. He is a decent, honorable and intelligent.
But if Romney is the Republican nominee -- and all the mainstream media tout polls that supposedly point that direction -- Republicans will lose. We might as well just renominate Bob Dole again. Or McCain. None of these candidates can appeal to Reagan Democrats because they are just not conservative enough.
This is a center-right country and Romney is not a center-right candidate. Obama modeled Obamacare after Romneycare. Al Gore thinks Romney gets it on the environment. And there has been a drumbeat of polls that keep telling us how electable Romney is. He is not.
If Romney wins the nomination, it is time for a third party.

Tipper and Al Gore Call it Quits
Tipper and Al Gore announced that they will separate, according to Politico.
And thus ends one of the most obnoxious supposed romances in political history. Remember how Al Gore claimed that he and Tipper inspired the novel and movie Love Story ? It was a little disturbing that he chose to misappropriate a story-line in which the wife dies, but whatever.
Then there was that dramatic make-out scene on stage at the Democratic National Convention. Yick. It was one of the most gruesome public displays of affection ever, worse than when Pamela Anderson made out with Kid Rock in the Derby paddock.
It was altogether fitting, given that Al Gore invented the Internet, that the Gores announced their break-up via email.

The Hawpester Channels Gandhi
Courier-Journal columnist David Hawpe has endorsed Al Gore's call for civil disobedience to the production and use of stop coal -- even clean coal.
In a speech at the recent Clinton Global Initiative meeting in New York, the former vice president urges adopting the tactics of Mahatma Gandhi and Martin Luther King Jr. Gore said, "If you're a young person looking at the future of this planet and looking at what is being done right now, and not done, I believe we have reached the stage where it is time for civil disobedience to prevent the construction of new coal plants that do not have carbon capture and sequestration" (technology that may not be perfected for many years, without which coal will continue contributing to global warming).
Actually, protesters already are out there, just across the state line in Virginia in Wise County, where 11, 12 or 14 (the accounts vary) were arrested after chaining themselves to steel drums. They were attempting to disrupt the building of a Dominion Virginia 580-megawatt coal-fired plant, for which ground was broken last month.
How about if Hawpe chains himself to one of Al Gore's mansions. As USA Today noted,
Public records reveal that as Gore lectures Americans on excessive consumption, he and his wife Tipper live in two properties: a 10,000-square-foot, 20-room, eight-bathroom home in Nashville, and a 4,000-square-foot home in Arlington, Va. (He also has a third home in Carthage, Tenn.) For someone rallying the planet to pursue a path of extreme personal sacrifice, Gore requires little from himself.
The technology to use coal without harming the environment is on the brink of helping our nation achieve energy independence -- and bringing good jobs to Kentucky. And yet David Hawpe wants us to chain ourselves to the steel drums. Clearly, Hawpe shares Barack Obama's vaunted "judgment."

The Green Police State: We Have The Technology
Al Gore's gotta love this. A British company has invented a way to track a person's global footprint by using our own cell phones to spy on us.
According to the Guradian,
a London-based start-up company has developed software for mobile phones that uses global positioning satellites to work out automatically whether you are walking, driving or flying and then calculate your impact on the environment.
So if Barry were to appoint Al Gore as "Energy Tsar," the emphasis would be on "Tsar": we could expected the enlightened despotism of, say, Ivan the Terrible.
