One Sentence Economics Class

I found my college economics classes quite complicated. After 26 years of running a business I have learned it can be summed up in one sentence.

"The consumer always pays."

That's it! Really it is not any more complicated than that. Anytime a business aquires a cost it is passed on to the consumer. If my supplies cost more, they get passed on. If gas goes up, the station passes that cost on to us. If the cost of corn goes up, we all pay for the increased cost at the grocery.

Fred Thomspon eloquently mentioned this last night. But let's not sugar coat it. Simply put, the customer always pays. No matter whom Obama decides to tax, it will get passed on to the consumer and as consumers we will be paying the tax.
